Appearance

How’s it look? The thing about luxury vinyl is that it uses a three-dimensional photograph for the design layer of the flooring. So it not only has looks, it has depth to it. The precision of the detail in the design layer is astounding. It can duplicate not only wood but also stone and tile work with exacting detail. It comes in either a plank look (LVP) or a tile look (LVT).

Durability

The core design layer of vinyl flooring is several vinyl layers pressed together to an 8-millimeter thickness. This is the average thickness of the vinyl. Still, if you want more durability and a longer lifespan of vinyl, you can get up to 20 millimeters of consistency in the design layer. It has a backing layer underneath onto the subfloor and a top layer that is extra thick to preserve the design layer for as long as possible.

Waterproof

Luxury vinyl is also waterproof thanks to its core component, PVC. PVC is a commonly used construction material that is entirely waterproof. So any watery liquid spilled onto the floor does not affect the core whatsoever. It will not ripple, warp, or peel.
